The Chickens Have Landed

The chicks have officially arrived, and let me tell you—they're already running the place. Their permanent coop is still under construction, so for now they're living in the cutest little portable setup that came with everything they needed. It has been the perfect starter home while I keep telling myself the "real" coop will be finished soon.

I've also been busy trying out names. So far the leading contenders are Bougie, Beauty, Fizzie, Hazie, Wiggie, Dottie and Bossy. I'm pretty sure at least one of them has already earned her name.

There was one brief scare when Wiggie started doing a little head twitch. Cue the frantic chicken-parent Googling. Thankfully, a little boost of electrolytes did the trick and she's back to acting like nothing ever happened.

The girls spend their days peeping, scratching, sleeping and pooping. Apparently, they're surviving despite my inexperience.

With any luck, the next update will be from their finished chicken condo. Until then, they're keeping me entertained and reminding me that life is just a little more fun with seven tiny feathered bosses.
